Although Kurt Russell made an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden to promote his latest film, The Hateful Eight, he was also asked about that time his Colorado ranch became a royal refuge for Princess Diana and her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, back in 1995.
"It was a series of things, I did a movie called Backdraft that there was a royal premiere of in London and sat between Lady Di and Prince Charles which was an interesting experience," the actor explained with a laugh. "Things weren't going well." [Ed. note: At the time (1991), Diana and Charles were just one year away from officially separating.]
At the premiere, Diana opened up to Russell about the increasingly unbearable headache of dealing with the relentless paparazzi, to which he told her she was more than welcome to hide out at his home—"a nice getaway"—if she wanted.
Years later, she took him up on his offer. "I guess Diana wanted to go with the boys and so they were welcome," Russell revealed. "And they came and stayed for 10 days at the ranch, and they had a good time."
